Uranus-Pluto Waves: Change or Else

Uranus and Pluto appear next to one another in the 1965 chart, dis­play­ing their con­junc­tion in Virgo. Uranus and Pluto meet at the same degree between every 111 and 141 years, respec­tively. For con­ve­nience, we call the span between outer planet con­junc­tions, outer planet waves. The last Uranus –Pluto con­junc­tion before 1965–1966 appeared between 1848 and 1849 so we can call that span, 1849Uranus-Pluto1965. Since waves incor­po­rate the posi­tions of two plan­ets rel­a­tive to each other at the quad­ra­ture align­ments, 0°, 90°, 180°, 270° and 360°, the lower square (90°) between Uranus and Pluto of 2011 is part of the 1966Uranus-Pluto2100 wave. This Futur­ist Astrologer His­to­rian is not sur­prised that many episodes of Mad­Men reflect in the outer planet chart of 2010. Why? Because Uranus-Pluto waves con­nect to many momen­tous events.

In the last 600 years Uranus-Pluto con­junc­tions and oppo­si­tions coin­cide with the Fall of the Con­stan­tino­ple, the Guten­berg Bible and the end of 100 Years War (~1455), Coper­in­cus’ the­o­ries (~1540), the end of the 30 Years War and onset of the Age of Rea­son (~1648), the French Rev­o­lu­tion (~1792) and the 1848 Rev­o­lu­tions (~1848). What we see in com­mon before and after these events, and thus, by exten­sion, at Uranus-Pluto con­junc­tions or oppo­si­tions (180°) are dra­matic dif­fer­ences. Before 1455 the Church con­trolled knowl­edge, after the press this advan­tage grad­u­ally eroded; the Fall of Con­stan­tino­ple restricted access to the East, encour­ag­ing over­seas dis­cov­er­ies, the end of the Hun­dred Years Wars shifted power from knights to the monar­chy. After Coper­ni­cus’ death (he waited until then for pub­li­ca­tion), his find­ings set a foun­da­tion that Kepler and Galileo who, unknow­ingly, used them to more com­pletely dimin­ish Church influ­ence. After 1648 and the Uranus-Pluto oppo­si­tion, the Peace of West­phalia, the Age of Rea­son and the print­ing press all con­verged to irrev­o­ca­bly end Euro­pean theoc­racy. The next oppo­si­tion, near 1792, coin­cided not with only the French Rev­o­lu­tion, but the begin­ning of the Con­ser­v­a­tive move­ment, when Edmund Burke realised that the Rev­o­lu­tion defined both sides of the debate. The next three points, the 1848 con­junc­tion, 1902 oppo­si­tion and 1965 con­junc­tion all bring these themes for­ward, par­tic­u­larly show­ing how the events of one Uranus-Pluto con­junc­tion shows com­mon char­ac­ter­is­tics through all sub­se­quent ones: the print­ing press that shows unmis­tak­able influ­ence at each turn­ing point. What would the 1960s be with­out the press and the media it engen­dered? Is not the media a cen­tral part of the Mad­Men story line?
