Uranus-Pluto Waves: Change or Else
Uranus and Pluto appear next to one another in the 1965 chart, displaying their conjunction in Virgo. Uranus and Pluto meet at the same degree between every 111 and 141 years, respectively. For convenience, we call the span between outer planet conjunctions, outer planet waves. The last Uranus –Pluto conjunction before 1965–1966 appeared between 1848 and 1849 so we can call that span, 1849Uranus-Pluto1965. Since waves incorporate the positions of two planets relative to each other at the quadrature alignments, 0°, 90°, 180°, 270° and 360°, the lower square (90°) between Uranus and Pluto of 2011 is part of the 1966Uranus-Pluto2100 wave. This Futurist Astrologer Historian is not surprised that many episodes of MadMen reflect in the outer planet chart of 2010. Why? Because Uranus-Pluto waves connect to many momentous events.
In the last 600 years Uranus-Pluto conjunctions and oppositions coincide with the Fall of the Constantinople, the Gutenberg Bible and the end of 100 Years War (~1455), Coperincus’ theories (~1540), the end of the 30 Years War and onset of the Age of Reason (~1648), the French Revolution (~1792) and the 1848 Revolutions (~1848). What we see in common before and after these events, and thus, by extension, at Uranus-Pluto conjunctions or oppositions (180°) are dramatic differences. Before 1455 the Church controlled knowledge, after the press this advantage gradually eroded; the Fall of Constantinople restricted access to the East, encouraging overseas discoveries, the end of the Hundred Years Wars shifted power from knights to the monarchy. After Copernicus’ death (he waited until then for publication), his findings set a foundation that Kepler and Galileo who, unknowingly, used them to more completely diminish Church influence. After 1648 and the Uranus-Pluto opposition, the Peace of Westphalia, the Age of Reason and the printing press all converged to irrevocably end European theocracy. The next opposition, near 1792, coincided not with only the French Revolution, but the beginning of the Conservative movement, when Edmund Burke realised that the Revolution defined both sides of the debate. The next three points, the 1848 conjunction, 1902 opposition and 1965 conjunction all bring these themes forward, particularly showing how the events of one Uranus-Pluto conjunction shows common characteristics through all subsequent ones: the printing press that shows unmistakable influence at each turning point. What would the 1960s be without the press and the media it engendered? Is not the media a central part of the MadMen story line?
