The Wave Metaphor

This metaphor appears the same from a 29.5 day lunar cycle to a 495 Neptune-Pluto cycle.

Waves play a cen­tral role in mea­sur­ing his­tory. Sim­ply put, they are a device for dis­play­ing outer planet cycles con­ve­niently. The main units mea­sured are the quad­ra­ture align­ments that occur as plan­ets move rel­a­tive to one another. The pro­por­tions mea­sured equal those seen dur­ing every lunar cycle and in every year through the sea­sons. All waves used in Mea­sur­ing His­tory appear as in the dia­gram to the left.

Thus lies the core of Mea­sur­ing His­tory. Of course, any dis­ci­pline that claims to view his­tory from a com­pletely dif­fer­ent per­spec­tive, does far more. The point of empha­sis, how­ever, bears repeat­ing. Map­ping his­tory to outer planet waves is a sim­ple process.

The Advan­tage

The advan­tage of outer planet waves when applied to his­tory comes from uni­for­mity. Each wave con­tains the same pro­por­tions across time. A Saturn-Neptune wave appears in 36 year inter­vals in the sec­ond mil­len­nium, BC or CE. Even more use­fully, the rela­tion­ship between the quad­ra­ture align­ments are always the same. As seen in the exam­ple below, these rela­tion­ships show up when applied to his­tor­i­cal episodes. events asso­ci­ated with a quad­ra­ture align­ment show con­sis­tent rela­tion­ships through­out a wave.

1915Saturn-Pluto1947, The Saturn-Pluto Wave of 1915–1947

Remem­ber to give a one to two year lee­way at each quad­ra­ture alignment.

• • 1915: Europe’s war about dying empires spreads around the globe; one result is the end of tsarist Russia
  • 1922: As a result of the war most of the empires break into smaller nation states. At the same time the US turns into the world’s dom­i­nate econ­omy, while the Russ­ian Civil War results in Soviet Repub­lic, estab­lished in 1922
  • 1930: The US econ­omy proves not strong enough to sup­port the globe and the world’s economies col­lapse; some of this is due to Germany’s inabil­ity to pay an oner­ous war debt; Ger­many aban­dons the Wiemar doc­trine under pres­sure of Nazism. Stalin estab­lishes power, sets USSR on a path toward the great­est indus­trial out­put in its history
  • 1939: Because of many issues left­over from World War I, Ger­many and to some degree, USSR begin World War I. As a result, the last ves­tiges of the British Empire dis­ap­pear, while the USA turns into both a diplo­matic and eco­nomic super­power. At the same time, Stalin man­ages to install pup­pet gov­ern­ments through­out what was soon to be called the East­ern Bloc
  • 1947:  As almost as soon as the guns fell silent, the Cold War begins. All of the empires at the begin­ning of the Saturn-Pluto wave of 1915 splin­tered into var­i­ous forms of nation state. The new episode played out through most of the next Saturn-Pluto Wave, 1948Saturn-Pluto1982.

One could name this wave: “How World War I Lead to the Cold War”. We could also name it   “How USA and USSR Became Super­pow­ers” or “How Empires Turned into Nation States”. All of these serve as valid top­ics for the span 1915Saturn-Pluto1947 cov­ers, but the more impor­tant point?  Each quad­ra­ture align­ment relate to every other and to the over­all theme of the wave. The estab­lish­ment of the USSR in 1922 at the Saturn-Pluto lower square (1915Saturn-90°-Pluto1947) was a crit­i­cal step that relates to the over­all episode and to every other quad­ra­ture align­ment. The 1917 Rev­o­lu­tion near the 1915 Saturn-Pluto con­junc­tion, obvi­ously sets up the birth of the USSR; Stalin’s power grab and the first of his Five Year Plans, which would later allow the nation to com­pete with Ger­many, also ties with the events of 1922; every other quad­ra­ture align­ment, 1939 and 1947 dis­play the same char­ac­ter­is­tics.
The advan­tage these dynam­ics offer should be clear. Along with this con­for­mity, we get a tool to exam­ine rela­tion­ships between his­tor­i­cal events con­nected to Saturn-Pluto waves, whether they span the period of the Thirty Years War (1617Saturn-Pluto1648) or the French Rev­o­lu­tion (1786Saturn-Pluto1819). Con­nec­tions between quad­ra­ture align­ments dis­play con­sis­tent rela­tion­ships. The same holds true across the range of outer planet waves from the 495 year Neptune-Pluto period, down to Jupiter-Saturn waves of 20 years.

Objec­tiv­ity and Holis­tic Perspectives

At the dan­ger of not leav­ing pos­si­bil­i­ties to read­ers’ imag­i­na­tions, I would like to point out an obvi­ous advan­tage and a not so obvi­ous one

Objec­tiv­ity by Outer Planet Wave

Mea­sure­ment requires objec­tive meth­ods to com­pare like units to one another. Outer planet waves pro­vide these for the study of his­tory. In its sim­plest form, the story of the how the outer plan­ets appear as cer­tain events take place on Earth just adds another layer to the dis­cus­sion. When this hap­pened. That hap­pened. Because using an ephemeris, espe­cially a com­puter gen­er­ated on, lets us mea­sure these incre­ments exactly, on one side of the equa­tion of ‘when this hap­pened, that hap­pened’ we can gen­er­ate a con­stant, a like unit of com­par­i­son. Thus for peri­ods of his­tory that remain a mys­tery, we have an addi­tional tool that could fill in miss­ing pieces. Equally, we can apply this method to the future, for exam­ple in His­tory of 21st Cen­tury or Paradox2140. And, frankly, since these meth­ods are as new to me as to the reader, I am cer­tain new uses,  yet to be imag­ined will appear.

Holis­tic Perspective

Every outer planet wave acts as entire self-contained, but con­nected to episode. By know­ing when the wave begins, or by know any date, a his­to­rian can see an event more com­pletely, as part of a larger pic­ture. In the 1915–1947 Saturn-Pluto example, “How World War I Lead to the Cold War” , “The USA and USSR Became Super­pow­ers” or “How Empires Turned into Nation States” each rep­re­sent a holis­tic view of the period. We get the same for 1399Neptune-Pluto1893, a period best described as the tran­si­tion from the medieval to mod­ern world. As in the Saturn-Pluto exam­ple events near the quad­ra­ture align­ments of 1399, 1571, 1648, 1821 and 1892 relate to the over­all theme of tran­si­tion from theo­cratic to sec­u­lar views, while also dis­play­ing con­sis­tency from align­ment to align­ment. Over time, see­ing his­tory this way gives a more com­plete view sim­ple chronol­ogy never could.
Paradox2140, which sur­mises that Progress rep­re­sents our present para­dox, comes from this holis­tic per­spec­tive. Future fore­casts can now have more com­plete foun­da­tions to base findings.
